Deferred payments & digital goods

I’ve been wondering: is there a way to not automatically send digital products purchased by customers who have chosen “deferred payment” as their payment method? In this case, I would manually ship the digital products only after confirming their payments.

Unfortunately, this isn’t possible at the moment.

The only way I can see this achieved would be by having regular products and sending the digital good to the customer yourself.

This seems like a major oversight. Are there any plans to rectify this?
