Subdomains question

In snipcart dashboard under domains & urls it says

You need to configure each domain and subdomain that your store will be on. When checking out, we will validate that the items are on one of those domains. If the item URL does not specify any domain name, we will use the default one. If your products are only on one domain, you can skip this.

my site has a french version www.mysite.com/fr is this something that needs to be added as a subdomain, i have a client that can’t checkout for some reason, perhaps this is the issue?

I know that snipcart needs to verify against the url to pass the transaction, but wouldn’t the fr/ be added to the path either way, just the same as any other page like my products page etc. For example if the product is at https://mysite.com/products/thingforsale or https://mysite.com/fr/products/thingforsale does this make a difference?

A subdomain is for example: https://shop.mysite.com/fr/products/thingforsale. You are using subfolders instead of subdomains. Neither is a problem for Snipcart.

Ok so am I understanding correctly that adding https://mysite.com/fr is not useful?

You may have misunderstood me. You can use it like this: https://mysite.com/fr/products/
In the settings under Domains, enter: https://mysite.com/. That should be enough.

If you want your site to run with https://www.mysite.com/, add www…

Hi Christian342, thanks for the reply I’m sorry I’m a bit lost. what do you mean by
“You can use it like this: https://mysite.com/fr/products/

When I said
“Ok so am I understanding correctly that adding https://mysite.com/fr is not useful?”

I mean to ask, is adding specifically https://mysite.com/fr in the list of other domains and subdomains in the snipcart dashboard redundent?

It appears to me that you are confirming this when you said:
“In the settings under Domains, enter: https://mysite.com/. That should be enough.”

So to make the question extremely clear, under Default website domain, I can put protocol https and then mysite.com under domain.

then under Other domains & subdomains

I can add www.mysite.com

should I also add
mysite.com/fr
and maybe also
www.mysite.com/fr

Hi fred, I have taken a screenshot of my settings. If you don’t want to run other stores you only need to fill in Default-Website-Domain.
The second field is for additional domains or subdomains.

Always enter only the correct domain without subfolders. https://example.com or https://market.example.com.
